The Festival’s signature events, the Grotto Concerts, celebrate music in concert with the landscape by combining the beauty of music with the area’s scenic wonders. A relaxing 45-minute jet boat ride down the Colorado River brings you to “nature’s concert hall”, a pristine, acoustically perfect wilderness grotto carved from the surrounding red rock walls. Light hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served after the concert.
The Grotto is a unique and special place to make music. If you could marry the Sistine Chapel with the Musikverein in Vienna, AND Carnegie Hall, you may get close to the Grotto’s perfect acoustics, but you still wouldn’t have its unrivaled natural surroundings. What music goes in the perfect place? “The most beautiful, most interesting, most authentic works we know” according to Music Director Michael Barrett, “played by the MMF artists. The concerts can be a deep musical experience.”
